With Round 17 currently being played and due for completion yesterday, it will be interesting to see the results.
Of special interest is how the leading teams Maguires and All Settlers fare as they battle for supremacy in a competition that has been played with plenty of enthusiasm.
The 18th and final round of the competition will be contested starting today and concludes on Sunday, March 25.
If All Settlers are to win the title they will rely upon Maguires going down to All Sorts and then they have to roll the Friday Burglars team.
If both teams finish level, All Settlers will win on a countback as they would have won their last six games while Maguires would be five from six.
Round 17 will see players battle conditions that are extremely tough as they are the hardest they have been in recent years.
Team managers are reminded that the presentation dinner will be held on Monday, March 26, commencing at 6.30pm.
Teams are requested to advise bar staff of the numbers of team members who will be attending.
The night will culminate with the presentation of trophies to the winning team and the announcement of the individual winners in both the handicapped and non-handicapped section. The meal is free to all players.
With just one round remaining in the individual competition, Friday Burglars’ Gideon Van Zyl leads the handicapped players section on 341.5 nett and his margin is a comfortable six-and-a-half shots over Robert Rea who is some four shots ahead of Lynette Van Zyl.
In the non-handicapped section, SCT Bandits’ David Hanson is on 347, seven shots clear of Paul Massurit who has made a late challenge and is on 354 just half a shot ahead of Josh Cheney.
The draw for Round 18 which will commence today is as follows: SCT Bandits v IGA All Stars, All Sorts v Maguires, RTA Drivers v Girls Nite Out, Cellar Pee Wees v Maniacs, Autobots v Dunny Divers, All Settlers v Friday Burglars, Players v Signs by Greg and Cellar Crows have the bye.
All players are advised that this round will be played on the front nine holes.
