Last Monday, members of the Parkes soccer community gathered at Harrison Park for the Annual General Meeting of the Parkes and District Amateur Soccer Association.
President Cameron Stone welcomed all members to the meeting and proceeded to give his report for the 2013 season where he announced that he would be not seeking re-election for the 2014 season.
“It is with sadness that I announce that I will not be seeking re-election for the 2014 season as my family and I will be moving to the Central Coast for a lifestyle and career change,” Stone said.
“I have already been lucky enough to secure a coaching position with Wyoming Tigers who play in the Central Coast Football League which is the top competition for seniors on the Central Coast.
“We feel that the time is also right for us now to begin a new chapter in our lives as a young family” he said.
David Parker also announced that he would be hanging up the boots on his executive career which has spanned 26 years in the position of Secretary.
“I have enjoyed my time as a member of a great association and have been involved with so many people,” Parker said.
“I feel the time is right for me to now pass the baton on as they say and let others have the opportunity to take soccer in Parkes to the next level and continue its growth” he said.
Other executive members from 2013 who did not seek re-election were Senior Vice President Aaron Gaffey, Competition Secretary Victor Gaidzionis and Treasurer Maryanne King.
Maryanne is still holding this position in the interim until a replacement is found.
The new executive for the 2014 season is as follows:
Wayne Pearce (President), Kevin Medlyn (Senior Vice President), Kristy Fletcher (Junior Vice President), Scott Lowe (Secretary), Shirley Edwards (Registrar), and Vanessa Edwards (Competition Secretary).
Wayne, Kristy, Scott and Vanessa are joining the executive team for the first time in 2014, combining with current sitting executive members Kevin and Shirley to continue the growth of soccer in Parkes.
They are all looking forward to bringing in fresh ideas for the future.
Wayne congratulated both Cameron and David for all the effort they have put into the sport in Parkes and said that they will both be sorely missed.
The association will now be turning its focus to the 2014 season in which they will be looking to fill the position of Treasurer at their first meeting in February.
