Parkes High boys are Western hockey champions

Parkes High School open boys hockey team have defeated Lithgow High and are now 2024 Western Champions.

Their championship began with a bye in the first round and due to a lack of schools competing in the CHS Western Hockey boys open competition for 2024 saw the Parkes team advance trhough to the semi-finals.

The semi-finals saw the team up against Orange High School where they won the game 9 to nil.

The team advanced to the finals against a strong Lithgow High side.

The boys didn't let Lithgow gain any momentum with the Parkes side managing to put two goals away to win the game and becoming Western Champions.

The team coached by Parkes High School PDHPE teacher, Wendy Rix, had an abundance of knowledge in the sport coaching both the boys and girls Parkes High School hockey sides for a number of years.

The 2024 Parkes High team included seven Western Hockey representatives who competed in the CHS NSW Championships in Sydney recently including Jake Dunn, Tom and Will Rix, Boyd Hutchins, Ewan and Eamon Moody and Nick McPherson.

Now the Parkes High team will advance to the CHS NSW State Cup where they will compete in Sydney against high school teams from around the state.
