Canberra visitors to ping pong in for table tennis

The regular seniors’ table tennis activity in St John’s Hall, Boorowa will be further enlivened on October 28 by a visit of players from Table Tennis ACT.

The visiting players will give a demonstration of their skills, engage in competition with local members, and enjoy meeting and mixing socially with members of the community.

It is expected that there will be some spirited contests between locals and visiting players, with both enjoying the experience.

Any interested locals who would like to attend to watch the demonstration, and even try their skills with local and visiting players, will be very welcome.

The table tennis group meets in St John’s Hall every Tuesday morning between 10am and 12noon, and a regular core of members continue to test their playing ability against each other and enjoy the social aspect of the activity.

Morning tea, where players pause to exchange news, views and local gossip, is always awaited with keen anticipation.

The Canberra visitors will be of the ‘senior’ variety, and locals will be keen to experience how their skills compare with the exponents from the ACT.

The game of table tennis is very useful in improving physical fitness, in a very pleasant way, and also greatly improving hand/eye coordination.

Those who have been attending the local group have indicated that they have experienced, at first hand, the benefits that regular participation in the sport can bring.
