I'm currently 55 years old, I started working helping my father, Colin (Shorty) Wilson at age 9, and at 10 was operating the hard rock crushing plant at Goonumbla Quarry, which I continued doing for so many years.
At 27, my family started into ready mixed concrete supply known today as Betamix Concrete Parkes.
I have been a member of Parkes Pistol Club for almost four decades.
I believe in a fair go for everyone, and everyone has a right to their own opinion, and to express that opinion.
My family and I have quietly helped many individual people and community services over decades in Parkes Shire and are proud to help where possible.
I have thought about running for council for the past 20 years, but like most people that are very capable of being a councillor, when the election draws close, they decide they are too busy in their busy life to spare the time.
For me, that has changed - I'm thoroughly sick of the way the Parkes Shire Council has operated for decades.
The sealed roads in the shire are poorly constructed from years of using poor cheap materials, that eventually fail, and result in the continuous pot holes that join up to each other, resulting in more money to patch up the mess.
There needs to be a whole re-think in the traffic restrictions forced upon us.
The shire unsealed roads have also been maintained for many decades with poorer cheaper materials, are not graded regularly enough and usually have various ruts and average potholes.
I and many residents are sick and tired of having a once a fortnight red lid garbage collection, the stink is disgusting.
I want to go back to red garbage collection once a week.
We need to get real recycling operating.
READ OTHER CANDIDATE PROFILES:
To me it seems there are way too many Council committees, way too much talk and procrastination and consultants paid and not enough action - all which needs reviewing.
Development applications are taking too long, including past refused development applications.
More housing needs to be requested and assisted by Council from the Department of Housing.
A review of planning of where housing should be encouraged by Council, to ensure a good division between housing and other activities.
Council needs to see how more local contractors and their employees can get more work in our Parkes Shire, to keep that money in our shire economy, to therefore benefit more local residents.
A few years ago I found myself in a dark place, and it made me realise that we need more support to help the people that feel their life situation is like being trapped in a relentless warp.
I am also deeply concerned the new Special Activation Precinct (SAP) is a 'Trojan Horse'.
I have inquired and asked the questions at a public meeting on Wednesday November 24, that was held by the Parkes Shire Council and attended by the state Government department for the SAP and Fulton Hogan the firm already contracted to build the Infrastructure.
But how do they know what size infrastructure and where to build it if there is 'no plan yet'?
No one had an answer to the questions of Burning Garbage.
So right now Parkes voting residents have a choice the Council team you have now or vote Group A on the ballot paper,1-2-3-4-5-6 and consider our recommendation of 7-8-9-10 on the other side.
Our team that wants a better Parkes Council, with all the residents being considered for a good living standard and a much better service and treated with way more respect and protection, and integrity in council decisions.
We'll push hard and keep pushing for what is needed like maternity at the Parkes Hospital, as well as better economic results for the royal rates being paid.
I will ensure that you will be treated fairly, respectfully and promptly, and if not an inquiry into what has happened and a correction made.
I will also stand up for the right thing to occur, and my team in Group A are all of the same mind, to have a better Parkes Shire Council for US ALL.
