Over 150 athletes and coaches selected in the Basketball, Golf, Hockey, Lone Star, Para Sports and Triathlon programs attended the weekend, while WRAS Netball and Cycling squads will undertake their Orientation later this year.
The athletes participated in team meetings, education sessions with Phyz-X, running technique drills, fitness, skills and movement screening testing as well as a speed and agility training session with the highly regarded speed coach, Roger Fabri.
The Basketball, Hockey and Triathlon squads all commenced their first team training sessions of the 2022 programs.
WRAS executive officer, Candice Boggs said it is an exciting time for all involved.
"The WRAS staff and coaches are really looking forward to commencing the 2022 programs," she said.
"Orientation is an action-packed weekend were athletes see the bigger picture of WRAS, meeting all the athletes, coaches and parents from across all the different sports.
"It is clear in the number of scholarships we offered for the 2022 programs that there is tremendous talent across the region.
"We're looking forward to working with the new intake of athletes and coaches.
"No doubt we will see plenty of state and national representation from this intake throughout 2022," said Boggs.
