Parkes have maintained their unbeaten record in the Western Masters League Hockey League, defeating Lithgow 2-1 in a closely contested semi final in Parkes on Sunday.

Parkes began strongly in the first quarter, maintaining possession and creating a number of attacking opportunities. They were rewarded when Tracey Chambers converted a penalty corner after a scramble in front of the goal to lead 1-0.
Parkes lost momentum in the second quarter and were turning the ball over far too frequently.
Lithgow made the most of Parkes' errors and struck back to level the scores when Jane Mattiske converted a penalty corner for Lithgow.

After some strong half time discussion about what needed to improve on the field, Parkes played a much better second half of hockey winning the 50/50 opportunities and improving their passing around the field.
In the third quarter, Parkes were rewarded with a lovely field goal after M'Liss Ross sent a lovely ball into the circle which Janelle Thompson one timed into the back of the net.
Parkes played smart hockey for the remainder of the match, ensuring the possession statistics were in their favour and finished the match 2-1 victors.
Best and Fairest points were awarded to Teegan Rodgers, Denise Gersbach and Louise Witherow, with Teegan Rodgers also being named Players Player after a dominant attacking performance.
Parkes will now play against Dubbo in the grand final at 12.00pm in Dubbo on Sunday, after Dubbo put on an impressive display of hockey in their 5-1 win over Orange.
Mel Wheatley scored a hat-trick for Dubbo, with Karen Edwards and Hollie Jones also converting.
Hailey Sturt was the sole goalscorer for Orange.
Best and Fairest points for Dubbo went to Mel Wheatley, Deb Brown and Tracey Hardie-Jones.
The Best and Fairest points for Orange went to Sandra Baker and Amanda Jewell.
Our golden girls were able to play in front of our all-time favourite golden girl, Mariah Williams, and hopefully she revved up the girls enough to get the grand final win this weekend.
