The forecast indicates the rain's going to start on Tuesday night, with a big chance of 10 to 20mm Wednesday and another 5 to 10mm Thursday.
The showers should clear up Friday with the chance of another 1 to 5mm.
At least things have had a bit of a chance to dry out in the past couple of weeks: it's 10 days since our last significant rainfall, 8.8mm across two days.
September has been a bit drier than winter: the month's most significant rainfall to date was an inch (26.8mm) on September 5 and 6.

It brings Parkes' rainfall to 536mm or 21 inches of rain for the year so far, with 218mm or just under nine inches of that in the three winter months.
Interestingly we can expect to see fairly mild weather conditions continue this week even when the rain arrives.
Weatherzone forecasts the nights will be comparatively warm with lows of 10 and 9 degrees Wednesday and Thursday, dipping to a low of six on Sunday.
Daytime maximum temperatures will sit between 17 and 23 degrees from Wednesday through to Sunday.
