McPhersons Under 7's
The mighty McPhersons under 7s played Red Bend on Saturday, once again in miserable conditions. Only three Red Bend players turned up, so Parkes lent them four boys.
We seem to get a lot more out of the games where we play each other, with the games being very evenly matched.
The pleasing part this week was seeing some things we've worked on at training becoming a habit on the field.
There was a big improvement in defence this week.
Tackle of the day was from Nate Parker-Lea, who continues to get more involved.
Seth Toomey and Lebron Murray scored two sensational tries and tackled hard all day.
Bill O'Bryan and Nate Calabro made some great efforts in defence, chasing down players and both scored some good tries.
All the boys had good games and should be proud of how far they have come this year.
Andrew Thomas Building Under 10's
The Andrew Thomas Building Under 10's went into the game as underdogs having suffered a first round loss to Red Bend.
They did however put on an impressive home town display to take the two points on Saturday.
The boys are improving each and every week and this was reflected on the scoreboard.
Their defensive attitude was solid and attack, strong.
Carter Moran set the scene early with three impressive tries off the back of dominant defense by Jack Robinson.
Billy White played well at dummy half, catching the defence asleep on two occasions, darting out from a quick play the ball to score two tries.
Jamison Lee also crossed for two runaway tries with Jack Robinson and Oliver Monkerud also adding to the tally, with a try each.
Ari Albert, Bradley Lewis and Oliver Monkerud showed speed and determination in attack, while Taj Harrison, Jackson Clarke and Nate held the line and defended well.
Great field position, team work and comradery made for an impressive win. Well done under 10's!
Final score was Parkes 48 - Red Bend 10.
