May was our coldest month so far this year with the temperature dropping to below zero on eight occasions, the coldest day being Saturday, May 29 when the temperature dropped to -3.6 degrees.
Our coldest July day was July 7 when we woke to -3 degrees.
So far in July the temperature has fallen below zero on five occasions. June was a mild month with only two days below zero degrees.
The milder than normal July has resulted in more rainy days.
Parkes mean number of rain days for the month, where more than 1mm falls, is just 3.7 days.
Rain, of more than 1mm, has already been recorded on nine days this month.
Parkes' mean rainfall for July is 47.1mm.
Up until 9am Monday Parkes had received 70.6mm.
And more rain is expected this week with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting rain on Wednesday and a wet start to August.
