Minor Singles championship games
On July 13, Greg Huggins played against a highly in form Rob Irving.
Unfortunately Greg, after scoring in the initial ends, could not sustain that form and fell away to give Rob a comfortable win.
Rob now goes on to play Greg Townsend in the semi- final on the lower half of the minor singles draw.
In the top half of the draw on Thursday July 22, Gary McPhee played Mike Valentine.
On the 8th end the scores were locked at 6-all, before Gary began to pull away and record a convincing win against Mike.
Gary now plays Martin Tighe in the quarter final.
As mentioned previously, not too many social bowls have been played with the last two Saturdays being wet and cold; but bowls were able to be played on both Thursdays. Here are the results of those games.
Thursday, July 15
Railway Diggers bowlers Keven Hyndsm Bob Freeman and Colin Miller 22 defeated George Bradley, Rob Tinker and Arthur Corbett 8.

Veterans golf
With the Forbes golf course closed because of the wet conditions last week, it was Parkes which hosted the twin-towns veterans competition.
Thirty two players contested the 12 hole event and it was Parkes' Tony Hendry showing the way to win his second event in three weeks.
Hendry compiled 23 points to win on a count-back from Forbes' Steve Edwards, while he also won the A grade nearest-the-pin on the fourth hole to add to his booty for the day.
Other nearest-the-pin winners were Parkes' John Fowler, who was the B-grade winner on the fourth hole, while Steve Uphill from Forbes claimed the A grade prize on the 11th hole.
John Whatmore from Forbes won the encouragement award.
Parkes won the Mick Miller shield 126 to 123 points.
The ball sweep went to 19 points and winners included: 23 points - Steve Edwards and Nym Dzuiba (Parkes); 22 - Gordon Christie (P) and Kim Herbert (F); 21 - Greg Webb (F); 20 - John Fowler (P) and Steve Uphill;19 - Rob Lea and Michael Lynch (P) and Barry Shine (F).
This week's event will again be held at the Parkes course and local players are reminded that the annual general meeting will be held following the presentation.

Parkes golf
Saturday was an 18 Hole 2B Stableford Multiplier Medley, with an individual in conjunction, sponsored by long term supporter Signs By Greg. Our thanks again go out to Greg.
The weather conditions were very poor, and unfortunately we only got 36 golfers participating on the day.
Brendan Smith and Nick Strudwick combined well in the conditions to take out the team event with a score of 70 points, not a bad effort at all.
In the individual event, Peter Magill played to his handicap to record a par score of 36 points to take out the event.
Peter has been getting back close to his best and the result wasn't a surprise.
He beat home another consistent performer in Brendon Simpson, who'll be itching for the club championships in August.
Nearest The Pins:
- Idlerite Tyrepower 1st won by Rod Kiley at 510cm

- Harvey Norman 11th by David Stevenson at 158cm
- Westlime 15th by Peter Magill at 153cm
