Chilly start to the day in Parkes with heavy frost, freezing temperatures

On Thursday morning, the sun was shining, the birds were chirping...and blades of grass and car windscreens were heavy under the weight of a very thick frost.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology's station at the Parkes Airport, at 7am it was -2.4°C with an apparent temperature of -6.5°C.

It's the seventh day in July with temperatures of zero or less in Parkes, with the lowest temperature coming on July 7, when the minimum was -3°C
