Rally4Ever coming to Parkes
Rally4Ever is a not-for-profit organisation which encourages greater community connection through physical activity with an unsurprising emphasis on the benefits of tennis for mental health and overall sense of wellbeing.
CEO and Founder Louise Pleming was a former professional tennis player and now a grand slam commentator.
Louise and local Coach Helen Magill grew up playing tennis together when their lives took different paths whilst still always being involved in the Sport.
They have reconnected now Louise is back home in Australia and they are teaming up to deliver the Rally4Ever program for the community of Parkes.
Helen says she really wants to offer some human connection through community and physical activity to enable people to keep moving forward and thrive.
Those who are potentially just feeling a little 'stuck' in their lives.
Helen has been inspired to deliver this program after working with 'at-risk' students from Parkes High School who showed an enormous amount of confidence and happiness when they were on the tennis court with her simply hitting some balls.
It was evident they left each week feeling a little better about themselves and the world around them and that's what our community needs; a feeling of connectedness.
It's RALLY4EVER's mission to help people through tennis and exercise. We don't discriminate. We just provide a safe place to have fun and connect through movement.
The Parkes program will be on Thursday 1pm-2pm. It's free. There's racquets available and everyone is welcome to come along, know they'll be accepted and enjoy some socialisation through a hit of tennis.
There's a great doco on I-View on Australian Story about Louise's inspiration and Rally4Ever.
Competitions
The ladies social comp started last night as did the new match play comp for tournament players.
This afternoon will see the return of junior comp unfortunately still in a compressed format with limited numbers.
Wednesday night will see a move for the A Grade Singles Challenge due to ongoing issues with the court resurfacing and limited court availability.
Juniors
HotShots, Squads and Private lessons all started yesterday and progress throughout the week.
There are some limited places available on Wednesdays and Fridays after school for HotShots and Private lessons.
