The Parkes Shire Concert Band members were very pleased with their win in the Open Band Section at the Forbes Eisteddfod.
The band played two favourite contrasting pieces, Wombat Shuffle and Phantom, and to their delight, the performance pleased the adjudicator.
The band is actually open to new members, those who play an instrument and those who would like to learn.
If you're interested you're welcome to come along to a rehearsal, or catch up with them at their next community play-out on Saturday July 10 at the NAIDOC festivities.
For interested children, the NSW Creative Kids voucher can be used for Parkes Shire Council Band membership or instrument hire. Membership is $30 per school term and instrument hire is $25 per school term.
The band rehearses on Tuesdays during school term from 7-9pm, above the pool complex in Dalton Street.
If you would love to be part of community music, they urge you to come along.
You can contact Duncan Clement, music director, by email duncanclement@hotmail.com or phone 0405 035 164.
