New to the club is Abagail Sharples who, at the age of 16, is still just learning to drive - but her enthusiasm for hitting the roads with a group of fellow car buffs lead her straight to the car club.
In fact Abagail told me that she's quite happy to admit that she knows more about cars than her boyfriend does!
"Both my mum and dad have had an interest in cars over the years, so I guess that's where my passion comes from; and I've always liked older cars," Abagail said.
It's no surprise then, that her first ever car is a unique little sports car that's still modern enough to be a reliable first daily driver.
It's a 1989 Mazda MX-5, also called a Miata, but interestingly enough aside from under the hood, there's not a Mazda badge on it.
Being a direct import the only name on the exterior is "Roadster" which the car was branded in Japan, though Abagail says it almost fell into her lap.
"I was really just looking for any car to learn to drive in and I very nearly bought a clapped out '98 Falcon when Dad's neighbour mentioned that he was selling his little Roadster.
"Dad and I were pretty familiar with the car, so I was really excited when it came up for sale and we didn't waste any time in buying it," she said.
Abagail's Mazda is a 1600 cc 4-cylinder automatic, and the MX-5 model is renowned worldwide as the best selling two-seat convertible sports car in history.
Her little Roadster has a removable hardtop roof for open air driving, plus a fold down soft top tucked behind the seats.
For Abagail though, she said it's not all about being able to drive on her own - there's another big reason she's excited to get behind the wheel.
"I'm looking forward to hopefully getting my drivers licence in September this year for more than one reason.
"I can't wait to get out driving with the car club and to enjoy the local street meets; but I'm also wanting to put the MX-5 in next years Elvis parade.
"I've entered and won the Junior Priscilla look-a-like the last 2 years so any chance to take part in the festival and I'm up for it," Abagail said.
So for now you're bound to see Abagail clocking up her hours with a set of 'L' plates on her cute little Mazda, but be sure to keep an eye out for her at next year's Elvis parade. With a Speedway theme and eager for the senior ranks of Priscilla look-a-like, they're both sure to make an impression.
