Last Tuesday the charity celebrated John's 75 years of service with a lunch at the Trundle Services Club that was attended by Trundle Conference members and some of John's family.

At the incredible age of 94, John has been and still is a very active member of the Society, holding positions of Conference president and treasurer over the years.

The Trundle Conference had started to dwindle about five years ago to just a few members, with John being responsible for all client assistance and the associated reporting.

At that time he was instrumental in the recruitment and training of new members, to ensure the continuation of the Conference in the small town of Trundle.

With a population of just a few hundred people, there are now 10 Conference members in Trundle.

John continues on as a Conference member, attending regular local meetings and representing Trundle at regional meetings.

He was awarded a life membership with the St Vincent de Paul Society in 2015 and was recognised in 2016 with a celebration with members, staff and his family for his 70 years of service.

"John has always been happy to do what was needed, without any complaints," said western regional director Kelly Morgan, who's based in Parkes.

"He has a beautiful manner and a great sense of humour and is greatly admired by his fellow members and the Society staff.

"They all appreciate his amazing dedication to those who we serve and to the members he has supported over the years."

Could there be an 80 years of service when John turns 100? Well he's certainly showing no signs of stopping, that's for sure.
