FASHIONABLE punters heading to the Parkes Picnics next month will have to strut their stuff in front of two high class judges.

The Parkes Picnic Races committee have secured two fantastic judges this year for the Fashions on the Field: Elizabeth Pakchung and Dixie Coulton.

Elizabeth was born and raised in Sydney while Dixie was born and raised on a rural property in Goondiwindi - a NSW/QLD border town.

At school Elizabeth learnt to sew and she loved making her own clothes and reading her mother's Vogue magazines.

After leaving school, she studied Economics and Law at Sydney University and became a corporate lawyer for 28 years.

Elizabeth is also a keen racegoer and was the proud part-owner of Crows Before Dawn which won a number of city and country races.

She has a wide range of interests outside law; including the arts, community affairs, urban design and of course fashion.

Dixie was privileged to attend many country races growing up in the bush, including races in Central Queensland, Goondiwindi, Moree and Armidale.

Elizabeth and Dixie met and became friends through their mutual love of fashion and have attended many fashion events together.

The pair are very much looking forward to judging the Fashions on the Fields at the Parkes Picnic Races.

The four categories at this year's races are: Millinery, Elegant Lady, Stylish Man and Best Dressed Couple.

Elizabeth and Dixie will be looking for:

  • Modern cutting-edge style and originality
  • Discreet elegance and fine craftsmanship
  • Attention to detail with accessories
  • Excellent grooming and deportment
  • An understanding of current fashion trends for winter

There will be five races at the meeting, and racegoers can use their Dine and Discover voucher to purchase their tickets and race book.
