Parkes Painters open art exhibition after 12 month pause because of Covid-19

The Parkes Painting Group officially opened its annual art exhibition in the Coventry Room at the Parkes Cultural Centre on Friday night.

As usual the event attracted a good crowd of Parkes Shire art lovers, who enjoyed getting out to admire some great workmanship and culture - something residents haven't been able to do too often because of the Covid-19 virus.

During the night's speeches Parkes Mayor Ken Keith OAM welcomed attendees and read a brief congratulatory message from Pam Watson, who was one of the organisers of the initial art show 20 years ago.

Jay Quince thanked the Parkes Painters Group for their donation of the proceeds from the 2021 art show which are going to the Parkes Association for Christian Education (PACE) which funds the scripture teacher at Parkes HIgh School.

Here are some of the scenes and faces Parkes Champion Post photographer Jenny Kingham captured during the evening.

The Parkes Painting Group art exhibition will run until April 30 from 10am to 3pm, with a $2 entry at the door.
