And what a great night we had. The speakers were Carolyn Butler and James Whalan and the topic was 'A world transformed through music.'
Coincidentally, lots of COVID-19 restrictions had been lifted that morning, which allowed Carolyn and James extra conversational interaction with the audience, and even getting everyone to sing a few lines.
Members of the local group, Tapestry, added a further dimension to the evening with their vocal contributions as they supported Carolyn, who is a Tapestry singer.
These events usually have two speakers who have an expertise in the evening's topic, and both Carolyn and James were amazing as they shared their knowledge, musical experiences and their love of music.
Both speakers are teachers, both have experience in choirs, both have been involved in music from childhood, and both volunteer and share their skills in a variety of performances in Parkes and Forbes.
A question from the audience asked which musical instrument was their favourite.
James replied that all instruments have their place, especially in a concert, as each instrument compliments the other.
Carolyn's reply was that her favourite instrument is 'voice' and this is from her love of performing a cappella with Tapestry, unaccompanied by instruments.
