Parkes PCYC club manager Katie Spence said they plan to run their fundraiser during Youth Week, which starts next Friday, April 16 and ends on April 24.
And she wants to spread the word of their mission in the Parkes community.
This new fundraising initiative is inspired by the 84-year history of the star in PCYC.
The money raised will fund a pilot mental health program based on activity, nutrition and building resilience for young people.
PCYC's 65 clubs around NSW reach 100,000 young people face-to-face.
"We work with young people daily, and this initiative will address the issues of those experiencing anxiety, depression and other mental health challenges," Katie said.
"Young people around the state have been extensively consulted and have co-designed the program with PCYC subject matter experts."
The new program pilot is called GRIT (Growth-mindset Resilience Intervention for Teenagers) which aims to build mental resilience skills, interlinked with good nutrition and physical exercise practices.
"It complements the NSW Police Commissioner's Rise Up strategy to reconnect disengaged young people to family, education, culture, employment and community," Katie said.
"This early intervention approach prevents young people being the victims or perpetrators of crime."
The Parkes PCYC has been running the Fit for Life program at its premises, which is an entry-level activity of the Rise Up strategy and involves young people mixing and getting fit with police officers and civic leaders through boxing.
"I am personally doing the StarJump Challenge for youth mental health," Katie said.
And she's asking others to "make like a star" and join her in Youth Week or support her by making a donation.
