Shortly before 1am on Sunday, Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) responded to a house fire on Kendall Street in Parkes.
Arriving crews from Parkes and Forbes were confronted with a house fully involved in fire, with a neighbouring house also under threat and impinged by flames, due to the intensity of the blaze.
Firefighters were required to work rapidly to bring the blaze under control, to ensure that the home next door was not also lost as a result of the fire.
With crews gaining access to the second house, they were able to knock down the fire before any significant damage was done.
While nobody was injured in the blaze, one house was completely destroyed as a result of the fire.
Both the NSW Police Force and NSW Ambulance were in attendance, and assistance was provided to FRNSW by the NSW Rural Fire Service.
With Fire and Rescue NSW crews attending multiple house fires in the past few weeks, Superintendent Scott Dodson said it was a timely reminder for residents to develop their fire escape plan.
"Now is the time for residents to check they have a working smoke alarm and to ensure that all members of their family have an awareness of calling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency," he said.
