Women's Bowls
This same week last year, we were reeling with the news of COVID restrictions ceasing all our activities!
We hibernated for weeks and weeks . . . . .
But now, we're "all lured" to be back and celebrating!
18 wee bairns kicked up their green heels in grand manner during Tuesday's St Patrick's Day social bowls.
The verdant-hatted spider had all the gals vying for that pot of gold, with Jan skipping off with the green goodies!
Congrats to all you "cailins" who came dressed for the day in varying degrees of "irish"!
To Merilyn, Rhona and Kay, grand "buiochas" for your donations, which contributed hugely to the general "craic".
Magic didn't happen for Beth Thomas/Eileen Bradley/Joan Simpson on Rink 10, as they went down to the lively team of Betsy Johnstone/Wendy Hendry/Kim Evans, still smiling with irish eyes after scoring a 7 on one end!
Valmai Westcott/Kay Craft/Brenda Davies took yonks to build a score and tried to hide in the clover on Rink 11 after their minor loss against Kerrie Nutley/Gwenda Carty/Maree Grant!
Helen Heraghty/Merilyn Rodgers/Rhona Went used up all their allotted wishes in their game vs Hilda McPherson/Di Howell/Jan McPhee on Rink 9. The tricksters in Team McPhee took the win!
Apparently the outside "greens" action came in a poor second place to what was to happen once inside the clubhouse!
Quaffing their Guinness pints, eating their praties, chomping green mud cake and singing loudly to their hearts' content, the "cailins" celebrated St P's Day grandly! I'd take any one of them "home again," even Kathleen!
Prizes galore saw Jan, Gwenda, Betsy, Wendy and Kim kicking up their heels in delight!
Marja even found the end of the rainbow in Canowindra, hauling home their raffle prize!
Happy birthday to Di this month, "Marching" all alone on our calendar!
All the "cailins" in both pennant grades are going well - thanks to all of those involved for representing our club so superbly!
The new carpet throughout the club looks fantastic! What a facelift! Come & check it out on Friday night and enjoy a meal, raffles & member's draw!
Social bowls for the majority next Tuesday, March 23. To play, call the club, 68621446, between 8.30 - 9 am. Play commences at 9.30.
Good luck to our 4 contenders travelling to Orange to play in the District Singles that day.

Railway bowls
Last Saturday we had the Zone 4 Trails with the Opens going up against the more seasoned seniors, with the opens grade managing to get the win.
On the same day, we had a game of Championship Fours with Steve Clegg, George Greenhalgh, Mike Phillips and Geoff Leonard taking on Col Boehm, MickFurney, Pat Cooney and Phil Barnard (sub).
Team Clegg got off to a winning lead of 14/0, then the worm turned and Team Boehm came home with a burst. Steve lead on the 19th end 16/14, but to their credit Cols team won the next two ends to win 19/16. What an upset!
Sunday pennants we had two teams at home and two away. The 5s played Molong with a good result, winning 9/1. The 6s went to Orange Country Club and also had a win 9/1. The 7 ones played Condobolin and had a narrow loss by one shot . They are still in the hunt to win that section and progress to Orange for the play offs. The 7 twos went to Molong and went down 10/0 but it was another close one.
