Fraud, vandalism and threatening behaviour concerns for Parkes police

Fraudulent activity in Parkes

Police are investigating a case of fraudulent activity that has occurred in Parkes after a man's bank account was accessed without him knowing.

The victim, a 25-year-old male from Nyngan, was contacted by his financial institution on March 1, alerting him his account had been frozen due to fraudulent activity by use of payWave.

The man's account had been accessed three times in Parkes - twice at liquor outlets and once at a supermarket.

Vandalism

The white picket fence at Keast Park in Parkes was vandalised between February 26 - 28, with fence palings torn off or bent.

Up to 20 aluminum palings are reported damaged, amounting to the value of $2000.

Police have no witnesses or CCTV footage available and are calling on anyone in the community who may have information regarding the damage to please contact Parkes Police on 6862 9999.

Anti-social behaviour

Police have been called to a fast food outlet in Parkes multiple times over the last few weeks.

A number of young people were reported to be obstructing traffic in the car park, and for threatening and anti-social behaviour.

Police have issued move-on directions to those involved and are continuing to monitor the situation.

Last weekend, firefighters from across Region West attended the NSW Fire and Rescue Wellington Training facility and brushed up their skills in the following competencies: New handheld radios, gas detector, may day drag and resuscitation, thermal imaging camera, structural fire door entry.
