With a ribbon cutting and a massive 32.6mm of rain falling between 9am Friday and 9am Sunday (recorded at the Parkes Airport), surprisingly there was a good roll-up on the day.
The Parkrun took place at Northparkes Oval from 8am, with some participants travelling from as far as Canberra.
The event has almost been 12 months in the making after the organisers secured a Northparkes Mines and Parkes Shire Council sport grant last May.
They were forced to put the plans on hold until Covid-19 restrictions eased.
The Parkrun events are free and are expected to be held every Saturday.
