Practise sessions began at noon today with many keen to get on court. As soon as the sun rises tomorrow morning players will hit the courts to warm up with first round matches at 8am.
With more than 100 matches scheduled right through until 7.30pm tomorrow night which equates to around 10 three-set matches per court and Sunday seeing a similar amount of matches, it is going to be a very busy two days in the tournament box for director Helen Magill who has the unenviable task of keeping everyone happy.
The centre looks an absolute picture thanks to Brendon Hunt, Hedley Nicholson and others who have been toiling away for the past week or so, particularly after the recent storms.
Many thanks to the ladies in the tennis community who have dropped off baked goods to sell and made jams and relishes. The city families always enjoy the lovely country hospitality that will be in the canteen and around the centre over the weekend.
Locals participating include Abbey Kennedy, Kaitlyn Stevenson and Faith Clarke in the 16s girls while Poppy Fisher will be competing hard in the 12s girls.
Gabe Goodrick, Mitch Arndell and Sam Rivett are entered in the 14s and will find the tennis tough going while Hayden Arndell and Zavier Jones will battle well in the 12s.
All Parkes players are playing first round matches at either 8am or 9am. Locals are more than welcome to come and watch the action and support the canteen over the weekend.
