Women's bowls
A fabulous roll up of 27 players came along, all set to walk-off the over-indulgences of Christmas/New Year.
Ground control have both greens looking and playing their absolute best! Thank you guys, for all your time and commitment.
On Rink 19, Kate Keogh/Maureen Miller/Robyn Morgan enjoyed their well-handicapped match against Marja Iffland/Di Howell/Jean Kennedy/Cherie Frame with the lead to-ing and fro-ing until they shook hands and called it all a draw.
Another close match saw Gwenda Carty/Fran Dixon/Rhona Went taking on Flo Riseborough/Maureen Baillie/Liz Byrne. Team Went were the eventual winners on Rink 16.
As we dusted off our bowls on Rink 20, the anticipation of a close contest was in the minds of Lorraine Baker/Laurie Keane/Lea Orr and our own cyclone Kimi (Evans).
Despite our efforts, our opponents Jan McPhee/Carol Reed (sporting new weaponry)/Kay Craft/Brenda Davies crept ahead and remained there.
Lynn Ryan/Rosemary Mitchell/Joan Simpson took almost half the game to properly rid their bowls of the cobwebs, but from then on, no looking back, and going on to defeat Merilyn Rodgers/Betsy Johnstone/Heather Harvey on Rink 17.
Next Tuesday is Australia Day. Put your names/teams down at the bar and enjoy a mufti day mini carnival with all the trimmings.
Regular Tuesday bowls again in February.
Good luck to our State Play-Off representatives who will be travelling away and contending against some of the best during February. Liz Byrne/Rhona Went/Cherie Frame/Gwenda Carty in the Open Fours, and Tom Furey/Maree Grant in the Mixed Pairs.

Parkes SSAA Smallbore
Last weekend saw 7 shooters attend the Deep Lead Shooting COmplex and shoot at buffalo targets at both 25 & 50m for a max of 520 points.
John Davis 270 - 250: 520, Brett Cowling 270 - 246: 516, Brian Drabsch 270 - 245: 515, Jeff Charlton 270 - 245: 515, Steve Mitchell 268 - 246: 514, John Smeaton 266 - 244: 510, Paul Hocking 269 - 237: 517.
Stumpy was going great guns but the pressure got to him on his last shot where he hit the buffalo on the ear losing 5 points, that would only enrage a real one. (It did, Stumpy).
Our next shoot is at 10am Sunday 24/1/21 and will be ordinary targets at both ranges.
