It's been 10 years since the complex - which now houses the Visitors Centre, Parkes Shire Council's Elvis Festival team, The King's Castle Elvis memorabilia display, Antique Motor Museum, Machinery Park and the Henry Parkes Historical Museum - was constructed.
Talks about a combined museum date back more than 20 years, with council preparing to make a final decision on such a proposal in January 1998.
Prior to that the Henry Parkes Museum was located in Clarinda Street (and had been since the 1960s), the Motor Museum in Bogan Street, the Visitors Centre at Kelly Reserve and the Machinery Park in its current location on the Newell Highway (Peak Hill Road).
The deteriorating state of the Henry Parkes Museum building was the motivation behind a push for a new premises.
The 10th anniversary milestone was celebrated among a small crowd with some cake, live entertainment and free or gold coin entry into the museums.
Here are some of the scenes from the morning, as well as some Parkes Champion Post articles on when council were looking at making a big decision on the combined museum in 1998.
