Nine races are scheduled for this evening, with $93,840 worth of prizemoney up for grabs.
*All fixed odds from tab.com.au as of 12pm, betting facilities are available on course.
6.11pm: $10,200 Col Fletcher Ford Pace (2040m)
It's a very even race to kick off the meeting, and certainly a difficult one from a betting perspective. JOES REDEMPTION ($6) might be starting on the outside of the second row thanks to his NR, but he's been thereabouts every race since he returned from a spell in September. THE WEEKEND ($4) will be the one to beat, with an ultra impressive win in the Dubbo Golden Gig Final last start. WHISKIESONTHEBEACH ($13) might be the value in the race in his 132nd career start while GOOD COP ($17) has hit a purple patch for Alectown's Stan Townsend. Tough to pick a winner in this one.
Tips: #11 Joes Redemption - #7 The Weekend - #5 Whiskiesonthebeach
6.43pm: $10,200 Parkes League Club Pace (1660m)
The 49 NR race is usually an open affair but it'll be tough for the field to beat Nathan Hurst's talented filly GABBYS REASON ($1.30) tonight. The rising star cruised to victory in her first career start right here in Parkes on February 5 and has only got better racing in stronger company since. POM PAY ($10) has been very up and down of late, but can challenge from back in the field while HAVANA ($5) has been running in some quick races in Bathurst of late.
Tips: #2 Gabbys Reason - #8 Pom Pay - #6 Havana
7.14pm: $8160 PHRC Life Members Pace (2040m)
Cannot sing the praises of Amanda Turnbull and BALDUCCI ($1.45) enough - both are Parkes Champion Post favourites, outside the locals (of course!). Eight races into his career, the gifted colt has already notched three wins and five minor places, and won the Red Ochre Classic in Dubbo two starts back at the slick rate 1:56.3. Just wins. The Grenfell trained Holy Camp Dillon ($11) represents great value after winning in Junee last start while Chasing The Wind ($8.50) is rarely out of the minor placings.
Tips: #2 Balducci - #5 Chasing The Wind - #4 Holy Camp Dillon
7.48pm: $12,240 Langlands Hanlon Parkes Cup (1660m)
Cracking edition of the Parkes Cup! The red hot Amanda Turnbull stable has GOTTA PARTY DOLL ($1.65) in the race, and she will likely jump as favourite after an incredibly dominant win in the G3 Red Ochre Classic last start. BO YANG ($8) is the best of the local chances in the race. The Townsend gelding had a huge 24 metre in Menangle last month and returns home, where he had a cruisy victory in September. MAXIMUS RED ($18) will find this company much easier while SCARLET BABE ($9) if she has returned to her best form
Tips: #2 Bo Yang - #4 Gotta Party Doll - #11 Maximus Red
8.18pm: $10,200 Medlyns/Castrol Gig Pace (2040m)
It's anyone's race this one - good luck. IDEAL DENNY ($1.50) has secured the gun draw and had a promising 2nd on debut last start but she's quite short. POPPY FRANCO ($23) represents great each-way value while ALL SPRUCED UP ($11) is a chance first-up after a long spell.
Tips: #10 Poppy Franco - #1 Ideal Denny - #5 All Spruced Up
8.45pm: $10,200 Terry Brothers Local Dash (1660m)
ARAMA REACTOR ($1.45) is first-up after a 293 day spell, and is clearly the classiest horse of the race; short enough quote though. MAUDIES DELIGHT ($7) won over 2040m here in Parkes two back but she'll need to buy her time from the pegs. Keen to see what Million Dollar Cam x Kyalla Marg mare KYALLA MINI MARG ($17) can do after an eye catching debut in Dubbo.
Tips: #7 Maudies Delight - #11 Arama Reactor - #10 Kyalla Mini Marg
9.11pm: $11,220 HRNSW Carnival of Cups 3YO Pace (1720m)
Plenty of talented three-year-olds are assembled for the Carnival of Cups Pace and half the field will consider themselves genuine chances. KEAYANG KREUZER ($2.70) is rated well for this race after moving up from Victoria though SAILALONG SINBAD ($8.50) rarely runs a bad race and may be better placed at this track. NO NAY NEVER ($4.80) has been disappointing of late, but is a chance on best form while BABY BEE MINE ($5.50) is finally starting to show some consistency and has secured the gun draw. The chances don't end there.
Tips: #7 Sailalong Sinbad - #1 Baby Bee Mine- #10 Keayang Kreuzer
9.48pm: $11,220 TAB 2YO Pace (1720m)
Yep, the Amanda Turnbull train will roll in here, with LYRICAL GENUIS ($1.20) looking like only bad luck will beat him. He's won his past two (from three career starts) in Bathurst, with the last coming at the incredibly slick mile rate of 1:56.6. This gelding will go on to bigger and better things. TULHURST CUDDLES ($26) and SINGLE SHOT ($8.50) look to be good chances of filling the trifecta after the late scratching of ROCK QUEEN.
Tips: #10 Lyrical Genius - #1 Tulhurst Cuddles - #6 Single Shot
10.21pm: $10,200 Happy New Year Pace (1720m)
The get out stakes will be a very open affair to conclude proceedings before the fireworks fly into the crisp Parkes air. Stan Townsend will be hoping son Nathan can pilot CULLENS FIELD ($2.60) home and send them into 2021 as winners - the filly broke her maiden in Dubbo on Boxing Day and she looks to have improved drastically in her past two starts. Outside the favourite, it's easy to see any other runner run a minor placing. It could very well be another two Parkes runners in the trifecta, with CARIBBEAN PAT ($10) and PRETTYBOYTOM ($4.60) both very consistent on the home track for Malcolm Hutchings.
Tips: #9 Cullens Field - #3 Caribbean Pat - $2 Prettyboytom
Gates open at 5.40pm, with the first race beginning at 6.11pm.
