Bathurst received 88 nominations for it's six-race meeting on Saturday while an initial 146 have been received for a seven-race meeting at Dubbo on Sunday.

The Benchmark 66 Handicap (1000m) sprint shapes as the best event of the weekend and will headline the Dubbo meeting.

It attracted an initial nine nominations, with Cameron Crockett's lightly-raced Step On Fire among those.

The lightly-raced gelding has also been nominated at his home track of Scone on Monday but should he come to Dubbo he would be out to build on a strong start to his career.

Step On Fire has had just the five starts but has two wins to his name. He won on debut at Scone and then won when first-up at Muswellbrook last month.

Also nominated for Sunday's sprint was the Kody Nestor-trained Music Miss, a mare who threw jockey Daniel Stanley from the saddle last start.

Nestor's fellow Dubbo trainers Connie Greig and Dar Lunn nominated Billy Bent Ear and Classy Rebel respectively.

Lunn is one of a number of trainers from around the region who has nominated hopes for both meetings.

Stable stalwart Zoutenant, who proved he's still got what it takes when winning at Mudgee last time out, has been put forward for the Benchmark 58 Handicap (1200m) at Bathurst.
