We recently caught up to chat about his most recent restoration.
This one's a 1980 Ford XD Falcon with a tough 351 V8 and a four speed and it very nearly didn't make it this far!
"It was about 12 years ago and a group of mates and I were building cars for demolition derbies," Richard said.
The XD was heading for a complete pull down and weld up into a derby car when I saw the potential in it and saved it from a certain death.

Originally a straight six manual, the XD was too good to smash up so Richard decided on a simple V8 conversion with a 302.
That soon led to a need for more power and Richard managed to find a 351 Cleveland to build up.
"There's a reason they're nicknamed a fuel toilet," Richard said. "But this one has never let me down and we raced it at Wellington Drags a number of years ago. Out of 46 cars we came probably second last on the day but we had a ball," Richard laughed.
After giving the XD a bit of hard life over the years, Richard decided it "needed a birthday". "People had been bugging me over the years to buy the car so I thought I'd give it a fresh coat of white to make it easier to sell," he said. "The more I pulled it apart, the more I realised how straight it was, so I changed my mind and decided to keep it."
The XD has only just been finished and back on the road the last month or so and already it has been hitting the streets. The paint was barely dry when the rear quarter took a whack - somebody was having too much fun again! So it copped another repair and here it is today - presenting as a straight and tidy XD with a tough stance and an even tougher sound.
This car was definitely built to drive, so look out for it on the streets of Parkes or at the the regular street meets held on the second Friday of each month at the outdoor Coles car park.
