In this round there is a total of $30,072 available for distribution to successful projects that promote participation in sport or improve sporting facilities.
CMOC Northparkes, Parkes Shire Council and the Parkes Sports Council have all joined forces to provide financial assistance to sporting groups that have a need for infrastructure, increased participation or upgrades to name a few.
This round is part of the new three year agreement with Northparkes Mines that will provide a total of $90,000, with the Council matching their contribution with a further $90,000, which brings the total to $180,000 for the program.
Parkes Sports Council, in administering the grants, are aiming to help sporting groups around the Shire both on and off the field.
Principally, there are two main aims, to increase participation, both in the long and short term for clubs; and to also give them the right infrastructure to thrive as a club.
Given that, funding is split between two distinct project types:
Participation projects - that deliver a sport or physical activity participation experience to an identified group of people, and;
Facility development projects - building new or upgrading sport and recreation facilities to support increased participation.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on sporting competitions in 2020, but for many clubs it has actually strengthened their fabric and culture.
To keep the momentum up, be sure to apply for a grant to give your club the best future possible.
Groups or individuals are encouraged to contact the Grants Officer Sally Chapman or Jenny Short (02 6861 2398) for more details.
Applications close October 7.
