For a tough looking production roadster with a racing pedigree, it's hard to go past the Shelby Cobra and Dusty Powter from the Central West Car Club owns this stunning example of the 1965 Shelby SC Cobra.

I started by asking what the SC signifies in the Cobra. "It stands for semi-competition," Dusty said.
"It's really just a way of putting a race car on the road," he laughed.
Dusty's is the final iteration of the Cobra, which started life in 1962 when ex-U.S. race car driver Carroll Shelby decided to try his hand at building a race bred production sports car.
To put things simply, he stuffed a V8 engine into the British born AC Bristol and things grew from there.
"As the need for speed grew, the body got wider at the hips to accommodate bigger wheels and the engine grew to a thumping 7.0 litre V8 in the Mk 3," Dusty said.
Dusty's Cobra is a Mk 3 generation car, but leaning to reliability and ease of emission standards his car is fitted with a Shelby Mustang spec 5.4.litre quad cam V8 with an Eaton supercharger and a six-speed-manual transmission.
"I'd always had a passion for Cobra's," Dusty said.
"And it was about 2012 when I was putting together an options list for my own Cobra off the production line.

There's 17-inch Hallibrand wheels with genuine knock on spinner caps tucked under the fibreglass bodied Cobra which is finished in one of the genuine 60s colours - Portofino Blue with silver stripes.
The bumpers are replaced with race style quick jacks and those massive side pipes give it an extra bold look.
For Dusty, the Cobra is for hitting the tarmac.
"It's built to drive and I drive this car plenty, especially when the weather is fine," Dusty said.
"Being a member of the CWCC is all about the people for me and I really enjoy mixing with people with a shared passion and a wealth of information."
