He has warned that it is illegal to let off unauthorised fireworks or fire crackers and said people are required to possess a permit for the activity.
"People do call us on each occasion and patrols are conducted to locate any lawful or unlawful doing," Chief Inspector Rayner said.
"Most of the time they're letting them off at night when the sound travels, which makes it difficult to pinpoint where it's happening."
Fireworks and fire crackers are often scary for many dogs, as they are more sensitive to loud noises; and in some cases dogs will run away if not properly contained.
The RSPCA has some great advice for pet owners, like those around Parkes, who may be subject to fireworks activity.
"Keep your dog indoors if possible, close the blinds or curtains to decrease visual stimuli, and create a comfortable hiding place.
"An example of a hiding place can be a cardboard box with blankets inside; cover the box with another blanket and put on some soft music or the TV to help mask the noise outside."
They also advise to let your dog stay near you, and to be as normal as possible; as fussing too much over them may cause them to get even more anxious.
Chief Inspector Rayner urged those who have any information on such activities taking place to call Parkes Police on 6862 9999.
