And shire residents in Peak Hill, Trundle and Tullamore would have already celebrated local talent and produce at another local show in the previous weeks.
Today would have been the main show day in Parkes, where school students would be enjoying their half-day holiday; Parkes Miss Showgirl, Miss Teenager and the junior titles would all be revealed and sideshow alley would be coming alive.
There may not be a Parkes Show this year so here's an opportunity to look back at the show 10 years ago when things may have seemed a little simpler.
