Sixty-five adventurous players hit off on Saturday, which considering the weather was a great result but very disappointing for one of our major events of the year.
In A-grade Joey Van Opynen took the early initiative to shoot a quality 75 off the stick and have a one shot lead over Robert Hey and two shots from Riall Harrison and Luke Clarke.
B-grade
B-grade saw Wayne Powter take a 2 shot lead over the in-form Grady Magill and the veteran Rob Cheney and in C-grade Brent Timmins take a 2 shot lead over Chris Harrison with Brendon Simpson another 2 shots further back.
The daily Terry Brothers winners saw Rob Hey on 71 in A grade, Grady Magill 75 nett in B-grade and Brent Timmins 72 nett on a countback.
The second round again were met with very strong south westerly winds bringing the temperatures down a notch from Saturday, this did not stop some great scoring from Rob Hey with a classy 2 over round of 73.
C-grade
Mick Dellaca just nosed out Rob Cheney with 87 on a countback and in C-grade Josh Kearney bounced back from a loss on Friday to a couple of club legends to record a fine 90.
The Terry Brothers Furniture, carpets and Floor Coverings daily winners saw Rob Hey record his second daily win with a great 69 nett, B-grade was Jake Thompson shoot a solid 70 nett and in C-grade Josh Kearney won with 71 nett.
There were only 4 players capable of shooting under 70 which showed the the underfoot conditions and the wind and cold were making it extremely difficult even for our best club golfers.
Latest results
The updated results see Rob Hey taking a 7 shot lead over Riall Harrison in A-grade with a total of 149, with Aaron Wilkie and Joey Van Opynen a further shot back.
B-grade sees a congested leaderboard with the wily veteran Rob Cheney leading on 178 closely followed by Grady "Party" Magill on 179 and Wayne Powter on 180.
C-grade sees Chris Harrison leading on 189, Ken Keith on 193 and Simon Wild on 195.
