Winner of the Best Float in the 2020 Northparkes Mines Street Parade, David Potts, kindly donated his $1,000 prize to the Parkes Dragon Boat Club as mastermind behind the float.
Northparkes Mines are huge supporters of the festival, sponsoring the parade and also giving an additional cash prize to encourage schools and community groups to build a float and enter the ever-popular Street Parade.
Parkes Elvis Festival Sponsorship and Marketing Coordinator Tiffany Steel was on hand to hand over the cheque to Bill Thomas from the Parkes Dragon Boat Club.
When asked what the club was planning on doing with the winnings, Bill was just thankful to have a healthy dam to paddle on.
"After all the recent rain, Lake Endeavour Dam is looking like glass and it has been fantastic to get out as a club and paddle on it in these conditions where it is spilling over.
The club has been paddling in a socially responsible manner, wearing masks in their most recent outing, and is an awesome club to join for anyone looking to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.
It is still not know whether the 2021 Elvis Festival will go ahead as planned, with a decision on whether to continue pushed back until later in the year.
