A huge week on and off the court last week for the tennis club. With Monday's competitions and coaching programs washed out it was full swing into mustering support for the resurfacing of the courts project through Parkes Shire Council's 'Your Say' community engagement survey.

We're very proud to say that the tennis court resurfacing project had over 400 votes and was more than 100 votes clear of the next project across the whole Parkes Shire.
With this kind of support Parkes Tennis Club Committee will continue to encourage Parkes Shire Council to prioritise this project.
Council asked people to have their say to influence the decision making process for future infrastructure projects across the Shire. Results showed it was clear that sport is a major influencer as well as the safety of our school children.
We all eagerly await Council's decision and the opportunity for further consultation on these vital community projects.
On the courts and court hire throughout the week continues to be popular particularly amongst contractors involved with inland rail, northparkes, the solar farms and the special activation precinct. We welcome them to our centre and hope they enjoy their time in our town.
Junior comp was in full swing and thank you to parents for assisting with the current guidelines and having only one parent per player at the centre.
All the players coming in are signing-in as the new normal and continuing to enjoy their competition play each week.
Quite a few players have been taking that next step and have been playing in the Central West UTR events. Orange was on last weekend with Mitchell and Hayden Arndell, Faith Clarke, Tia Dunn, Liliani and Savannah Latu and Phoebe and Katie Forbes as well as Poppy Fisher all working hard to improve their UTR.
It was an interesting first event as it is unisex on their UTRs so players were pooled and all played 3 matches. As UTR is relatively new there will be considerable movement in player's UTRs over the next few months until they settle.
Dubbo's event was on Sunday with Mitchell and Hayden Arndell, Faith Clarke and Tia Dunn all competing hard during their 3 matches. Mitch, Hayden and Faith all played in a compass draw format while Tia enjoyed the round robin.
Gabe Goodrick travelled to Springwood to play in their UTR event also on Sunday and had 3 very competitive matches coming away with 2 wins against higher rated opponents.
This weekend Parkes will be staging our UTR event with a double header. UTR 4-12 will be played on both days while UTR 1-3 will be only on Sunday. Entries via www.myutr.com
Anyone playing in the Tuesday junior comp in Green or Yellow divisions are welcome to play in the Sunday event and anyone playing in the Monday night mens or Line 1 in the Tuesday night comp can play in the 2 day event. If you're not sure please get in contact with Helen Magill on 0407 253 888.
Parkes High Year 7 and 8 V1 students visited the Tennis Club last week as part of a 4 week program with Helen Magill to get out in the fresh air, get active, work together and learn some new skills.
They surprised themselves how well they did rallying on the red courts with some even advancing to the orange courts and are looking forward to this Friday for the opportunity to learn some more interesting skills and facts about tennis.
Tennis Australia has just announced another ANZ racquet road show where they are giving away 30000 racquets to kindergarten students.
Helen Magill has news that two schools in Parkes, one in Trundle, one in Tullamore, one in Eugowra and one in Manildra have been lucky enough to be part of this exciting program thanks to ANZ.
Announcements will be made soon.
