He said a number of major projects in Parkes had put the community in good stead but "state government neglect could undo much of Parkes Shire Council's great work".

Mr Warren met with Mayor Ken Keith OAM on July 22 to discuss a number of issues relating to the town.

"I spent the first 17 years of my life in Dubbo - an hour and half north of here - so it was great to be back in Parkes," Mr Warren said.

"I met with Mayor Ken Keith OAM and was particularly impressed and encouraged by council's vision to create local jobs and stimulate the local economy.

"The redevelopment of Spicer Oval and the development of Parkes Showground sound like particularly interesting projects, but state government support for projects like those two are vital."

Mr Warren vowed to make representations to the state government on behalf of council to ensure the best possible outcomes for the community were achieved.

"I will be writing to the Deputy Premier, John Barilaro, urging him and his state government colleagues to do everything possible to support Parkes Shire Council in regards to those projects," he said.

"The level of state government cooperation and support to date has been inadequate and disappointing, and I'll be urging the Deputy Premier to address those concerns.

"Both those projects are great examples of where the state government should be doing everything possible to support the council and their local community.

"The Special Activation Precinct was also impressive and once again I commend council for their proactive approach regarding that project."
