One of the things that has happened here in Parkes is that the Parkes Day VIEW Club have been unable to meet each first Tuesday of the month.
We were also unable to hold activities such as the trivia night.
We were not only missing the social aspect of these happenings, but also missing raising money to help out our Smith Family 'Learning for Life' school children.
Folks who watch TV have certainly seen the information given in the info adverts showing how school children from families who are in poverty need help.
These thousands of children are in these circumstances through no fault of their own.
The Smith Family's Learning for Life program recognises and supports disadvantaged children need extra support to stay at school and go on to further studies or a job.
We are at the moment unable to hold any business meetings.
However, we've decided to have a social lunch on Tuesday, August 4 at the Coachman Hotel.
All are invited to join us.
To do so, contact our secretary Wendy on 6862 5008, so that the numbers for the luncheon are given to the hotel.
