With many clubs calling off their tournaments due to Covid-19 the Parkes Golf Club decided after much deliberation that the tournament should go ahead, especially after players from some of Sydney clubs stated that they would be coming to Parkes.
Apart from naming rights sponsor SCT Logistics, the club has once again signed sponsorship deals that will ensure the success of the clubs premier golfing event.
Heading the list of co-sponsors is that of naming rights sponsor for the prelude event the 4Ball Best Ball Stableford event on Saturday, September 19 with Epiroc Australia accepting the rights for the seventh successive year.
Epiroc Australia is heavily involved in the mining industry and local area manager Alan Sharpe said he was proud and excited to once again support the Parkes Open Tournament weekend - an event he describes as the pinnacle golfing event in NSW Country as it is a tribute to the organising committee for the effort and manner in which the event is conducted.
Sharpe also said he "wouldn't miss the event for quids" as the friendships gained at the event will be everlasting, as will the memories.
The event attracts several characters who continue to make the weekend what it is.
Parkes Golf Club's tournament director Paul Thomas said it was a pleasure to have the backing of Epiroc Australia, as well as the associated sponsors who make the tournament, some of whom have been associated with the event for more than 20 years.
These companies will be joined this year by the Central West's leading liquor merchant D'Aquino's who operate some seven outlets in the region, including two locations in Parkes. These being Parkes Cellars and General Store and the Grand Drive Thru.
D'Aquino's will join sponsors such as Griffins Leading Edge, Tobacco Station Group and Kooler Ice.
Once again Casey Surveying & Design Pty Ltd will sponsor Saturday's long drive competition in three grades and this competition will be played in conjunction with the Epiroc Australia 4 Ball competition and will take place on the eighth fairway.
Meanwhile Asquith Golf Club, who have been involved for many years, as has the Parkes mayor Councillor Ken Keith OAM, are sponsors of the Veterans Scratch and Handicaps sections.
The Leister family will sponsor the player who records the lowest nett score over the initial 18 holes with the John "Gidgie" Leister Memorial Trophy.
Backing up for their second successive SCT Parkes Open will be Wetherill Park based Trueserv Supply Chain Solutions who join as they sponsor the "Eagles Nest" competition during Sunday's SCT Logistics Parkes Open.
Gavin Graham, managing director of Trueserv, said it's an amazing competition that gives all players a chance to snare some amazing goods.
