Golfers in the pre-lunch session didn't get any value from the sun where at least the afternoon golfers saw it once or twice. There were 90 brave players meeting the starters call this week.
Mitch McGlashan's class again rose to the top with a fine 75 in the very windy conditions and took out the A grade scratch. He won this on a countback from Joe Van Opynen who has been practising hard over the last few weeks.
These were great rounds considering the competition was off the blue markers and into a strong and gusting southerly wind and it was very difficult to get the hands warm to strike the ball accurately.
In the A grade nett Anthony Lock had a 72 which was the same score recorded by Michael Dumesny with Anthony also winning on a countback. Well done to both golfers.
In B grade both the scratch and nett were won by Troy Thomson with a great round of 83 off the stick returning him a 68 nett. Obviously had that high ball flight in control in the wind.
In the C grade it was good to see junior Grady Magill come up a winner. Grady had very solid 88 off the stick returning a 69 nett to win him both trophies.
In the Griffins Leading Edge putting Joe Van Opynen showed what the highlight of his round was as he only needed 22 putts to claim the victory.
In the Wally Norman Memorial Vets Trophy, the old warhorse Ross Smith came up trumps with an honest 72 nett.
The Nearest The Pins were hard to get at this week but there were some close distances still. Idlerite Tyrepower first was won by David Harwood at 1330cm.
The Griffins Leading Edge fourth by Riall Harrison at 236cm, the Dirt Doctor Landscaping 6th by Tom Medcalf at 179cm.
The Parkes Readymixed Concrete ninth by Nimesh Piyatissa at 290cm, the Harvey Norman 11th by Josh Cheney at 663cm, the Parkes Readymixed Concrete 15th by Rob Hey at 154cm and the Central West Glass 18th by Warwick Wright at 60cm.
So that meant that Riall Harrison won the lucrative fourth hole this week.
Ball winners were - Matthew Byrnes, Brian Hogan Snr, Myles Smith, Nathan Johnston, Phil Bishop, Rod Kiley, Max Keith, Aaron Wilkie, Joe Van Opynen, Ross Smith, Peter Magill, Brett Cowling, Brendan Simpson, Peter Bristol and Garry Phillips.
The Ladies Competition this week had a good 18 starters and the Central West Glass Monthly Medal was won by Jacquie Charlton with a very solid 73.
Jacquie beat home Kaye Jones who had a fine 74 nett. The Putting competition for this round was won by Kaye Jones. Ball winners this week were Kaye Jones, Chris Stait, Leonie Thompson, Lyn Davison and Colleen Staples.
Nearest the Pins for the Ladies were, Cathy Kelly and Denise Charlton. First - Cathy Kelly, on the Services Club, fourth was Cathy Kelly, on the Telescope Tyres sixth - Anne Berkeley, on the Jacob O'Brien ProKonnect 11th Barbara Donnelly, on the Liz Matthews 15th was Anita Medcalf.
