The RIAZ Dental sponsored round this week saw a great struggle as 3 players tied at 37 points requiring a countback to decide the winner.
The event also saw the Michael Richardson Memorial Trophy and round 1 of the Handiskins event for 2020 played in conjunction. A big thanks to Dr Khazima Riaz for her sponsorship.
A great men's field of 92 golfers participated in the event this week with Michael Dellaca proving to be no bunny as he again led the field home to claim the prize and also kick-start his 2020 Handiskins campaign magnificently. Michael has been working hard at his game and this dedication is really starting to reap rewards.
The unlucky players on the day were Lindsay Elliott and Ian Phipps who also recorded great rounds of 37 points only to be beaten on countbacks. Ian was a national winner of Handiskins in 2017 so he will be happy starting this year's campaign as equal leader.
Phil Bishop and Anthony Lock were the only other golfers with stableford par rounds of 36 points, so the course is still proving a good test for our members. With a bit of consistent rain landing on the kikuyu fairways there is little run to aid on the longer holes.

Nearest The Pins competitions this week threw up some close shots this as again we thank our hole sponsors: Idlerite Tyrepower. 1st was won by Anthony Riach at 350cm, the Griffins Leading Edge 4th by Anthony Riach at 98cm (what a start to the round!), the Dirt Doctor Landscaping 6th by Mitch McGlashan at 56cm, the Parkes Readymixed Concrete 9th by Ken Cobcroft at 270cm, the Harvey Norman 11th by Luke Clarke at 59cm, the Parkes Readymixed Concrete 15th by Jake Thompson at 107cm and the Central West Glass 18th by Aaron Wilkie at 64cm. So that meant that Mitch McGlashan won the lucrative 6th hole this week.
The ladies had a good turnout of 20 players for the Neil Hamilton trophy this week. Neil has been a long-term sponsor of Ladies golf and they appreciate the ongoing support.
There were 3 ladies contesting the 18 hole event for the first time: welcome to Gai Baker, Jackie Charlton and Nancy Blatch. The winner was Jackie Charlton, so a great time to contest the event when the form was hot shooting a fine 36 point round. Runner up this week was the ever-consistent Anne Berkeley with 35 points.
Kaye Jones and Gai Baker both shot very respectable 34 pointers as well.
The Nearest the Pins for the Ladies this week were, on the Kathy Kelly and Denise Charlton 1st - Kaye Jones, on the Services Club 4th was Frankie Cock, on the Telescope Tyres 6th - wasn't won this week, on the Jacob O'Brien ProKonnect 11th Anne Berkeley, on the Liz Matthews 15th was Kaye Jones.

This week is the Naggers Cup and Sadie Hawkins trophy so that will make for some interesting reporting next week. The men will contest a 4 BBB with Byrnes menswear supporting our members with trophies and long term lady golfer Liz Matthews providing her trophy.
There is also the prestigious Fred Cusack Memorial Trophy / Keith Mill & Keith Cusack Memorial up for grabs and it is not too late to join the Handiskins competition. There are still 4 qualifying rounds to go and only the top 3 rounds you submit count.
