Thanks to our great sponsors Brendan and Natalie Simpson who provided this week's trophies.
We had 76 keen players ready to enjoy a beautiful day, good playing conditions and plenty of separation.
Well done to the Board for getting in place the rules and protocols and more importantly to the players for adhering to those on the day.
As we go to press there is promising news that some form of golf will be offered by the PGC, but we all have to be mindful that any breaking of the rules will attract large individual and club fines and also lead to closing the club.
The lower gates will remain closed for the time being.
Before all play check in at the Proshop for directions and updates and to get the latest on how we are providing golf to our members.
Befitting the conditions, we had three great scores of 41 leading in the pack.
Obviously, this had to be resolved with a countback with relative newcomer Max Keith picking up the chocolates.
Max has been thereabouts for the last few weeks and this was a strong performance.
Scott Mackenzie finished off the practice he's been putting in with his 41 points.
Scott spends a lot of time with the golfing maestros so it obviously rubbing off.
Unlucky to be placed third was Ian Hendry who really fired to also finish on 41 points.
Ian has finally shrugged off some shoulder problems and is looking to shave some strokes of the generous handicap he has currently.
Matt Lawryk had a fine 39 off his low handicap and Dave Stevenson and Peter Bristol shot 38's.
The ball competition went down to 36 points on countback, so once again par was the cut-off.
The were no nearest the pins to try and keep touchpoints to a minimum but there were a lot of pitch marks near the pins so it would have been hard to win a prize there.
Best of luck Ben
This week we saw our popular Pro Ben Gear finish up at the Parkes GC.
Ben has been an asset to the club and has further helped create a better understanding of golf and with his staff provided many lessons to our players.
We wish Ben all the best in his next endeavours.
But on the flipside, we welcome Jake O'Brien our new Pro to the club.
Jake has only moved from Dubbo and so has familiarity with the Parkes town, club and course.
Jake is full of enthusiasm and keen to get on and help the club go further ahead.
Call in when you can and introduce yourself before he gets too popular.
The greens have now had a few cuts and are starting to look great.
With the rain we've had and the impending rain the fairways should also look a treat with Nigel and Rob spending a lot of time onboard the tractors.
