Before the coronavirus pandemic impacted local schools and student learning and activities, and closed the Parkes Pool, Middleton Public School enjoyed a very successful swimming carnival.

They were blessed with perfect weather for the event and said they had some very enthusiastic students taking part.
"It was a terrific competition with some outstanding champions," the school said.
"Some races were so close that it really kept the judges and time-keepers on their toes!"
Kingsford sports house had a very successful day, winning the House Competition and the 'Standen Family Supporters House' Trophy.
Hayden Lamond was the school's Senior Boy Champion, followed by Walter Smeaton.
Chelsea McMaster was the Senior Girl Champion with Meg Skinner in second place.
Jett Clarke and Elizabeth Smeaton both had a terrific day and were the Junior Champions.
Max MacGregor and Aliza Roberts came in as second place Junior Champions.
The fastest boy and girl over 50 metres on the day for the Charlton Shield were Walter Smeaton and Chelsea McMaster.
The team spirit demonstrated by all students during the day was an impressive sight.
They were able to have a few free swims throughout the day, where the children were able to have fun with friends in the pool!
