All in attendance at Woodward Oval witnessed a splendid game of cricket played in great spirit by both teams as fortunes fluctuated throughout the match.
Man of the match, Max Keith turned in an outstanding display of all-round cricket to inspire the Raptors team to play at their best.
Max batting at number three for the Raptors had to defy a top class effort of sustained accuracy by the Cats opening bowlers Clinton Hawke.
Shane Jones to top score with a very well complied 27 runs - an innings which was highlighted by a magnificent straight drive six off Clinton Hawke.
Max then turned in a stunning bowling spell with pinpoint accuracy to capture the excellent figures of six overs, two maidens, five wickets for six runs.
Max heroics were eventually thwarted by an important last wicket partnership between Cats seasoned campaigners Graeme Bayliss (19no) and Clinton Hawke (11no).
No doubt Graeme and Clinton were inspired from the previous weekends 45th anniversary of the Cambridge Cricket Club where many old cricketing memories were rekindled.
The game began with some great bowling from Shane Jones and Clinton Hawke.
Raptors were in trouble when their score stood at 4/25 in the 14th over.
Toby Nash (22) and Scott Knights (17) showed plenty of defence for the Raptors before Ben Coultas batted very attractively and effectively to score a quick fire 22no late in the innings as Raptors totalled 119 in 36.4 overs.
Antony Riach (3/29) received good support from Corey Thompson (2/32) and Harry Bayliss (2/28).
In reply, Cats were in trouble when their score stood at 3/32 after ten overs as Luke Nash snared two valuable wickets.
The ever-reliable Shane Jones batted skilfully to score 34 runs.
Harry Bayliss with 14 runs offered good support as Max created havoc with great bowling.
Eventually, Graeme Bayliss and Clinton Hawke demonstrated cool heads and sound technique to bring victory for the Cats.
With a such a closely contested game taking place umpire Trevor Chatman preformed his duties with considerable skill and fairness to both teams.
