Saturday and Sunday was the Zone 4 singles with the Senior section played at Forbes. We 4 players involved Peter Creith going down to Col Hayward 31/29, Wally Grant went down to Lindsay Wilding 31/16 and Ray Griffith beat John Corcoran 31/26 in the Quarter finals. The semi finals saw Ray Griffith beat Paul Davis in a cliff hanger 31/30 and advance him to the finals where he was beaten by Lindsay Wilding 31/19.

The Open Section was played at our Club where we were represented by Geoff Leonard, Andrew Daley, Matty McGrath, Mick Furney and Luke Ramsay.

Matty McGrath defeated Mick Furney in the semi while Andrew Daley went down to Christian West in the other semi. In the final it was Matty and Christian going neck and neck after 30 ends it was 23 all with Christian going on to win 31/24.

The Presidents Singles were played at Condobolin and Peak Hill with Steven Clegg reaching the Final at Peak Hill against the old veteran Gary Stanford. Gary won a close battle with Steve 31/27. This was Steve's first tournament so well done Steve.

At Condo we had seven players representing us and Alan Curteis won through to one final but was beaten by Condo's Brayden Davis. The other player to reach the Final was Lea Tanks and she won through to the Zone Playoffs at Dubbo this weekend by beating Ian Simpson 31/22. Well done Lea and go get em at Dubbo.

There was no social bowls due to the Zone sectional playoffs.

Wednesday Social bowls saw Greg Phillips and Bobby Freeman run out winners with a win 19 + 21 and the runner ups were Terry Clothier and Alan Affleck also with a win 19 but one shot behind with a + 20. The Jackpot did not go off and stands at $300 for next week.

This weekend sees Manildra come to town to play us in the Carty/Price Shield, this will also be a Pennants Practice for both Clubs so we would like to see any intending Pennants Players turn up to give the selectors a look at your form as Pennants starts the following Saturday and Sunday in a double header.

T'was a warm day with a fair cross breeze that saw Round One of the Club Singles Championships take place. 27 bowlers took their chances, some socially, some in competition.

Results of social games: Lynn Ryan, Helen Heraghty and Brenda Davies played consistently in front of a ruff cheer squad and were too good for Jean Kennedy, Chris Curteis and Joan Simpson.

Carol Reed, Merilyn Rodgers and Lea Orr lapped it up over Julie Green, Kate Keogh and Maureen Baillie.

In a game of pairs, Kay Craft and Lorraine Baker collared the opposition and had a win over June Burgess & Elaine Miller.

Off the leash at last, Valmai Westcott, Ann Norton and Frances Charlton escaped to the top green and enjoyed a game of Consistency.

Lucky winners today were Heather, Maree and marker, Kim! There is a raffle in progress, to be drawn after the matches next week - a $100 Money Tree! Don't miss out, buy a ticket or three!

The District Singles Championships were held last week in Forbes. Brenda Davies did our club proud in her match, while Maree Grant finished as runner up in the Final. Congratulations gals!

Next week, February 25, there are no social bowls as the District Pairs are to take place at PBSC over two days. Players Lunch will cost $10 and green fees of $5 for each day you play. Good luck to all our girls!

Nominations for District Triples are closed and will be held on March 3-5. District Fours nominations close next week.

On Saturday the PGC golfers contested the 18 Hole 4B Multiplier MEDLEY with an Individual event in Conjunction. It was also the first qualifying round of the PYBAR Handicap Challenge for 2020. Our sponsors for the weekend were SPORTSPOWER.

Our winners were Ron Hetherington and Wayne Tucker on good score of 86 points. There were closely followed by Jack Elliott and Jarrod Kemp on 85 points.

Jack Elliott was the individual winner for the week on 40 points, a feat he repeated exactly from the previous week - well done Jack. He was closely followed in by Wayne Tucker on 39 points and Ron and Jarrod tied for third on a solid 38 points.

Coincidentally Ron had also won the teams event the week before, so his form is holding strong as well. Fiona Lovett from Sportspower was on hand to present the individual trophy to Jack in front of a good crowd. A big thank you to Fiona and John. This also gives Jack the lead in the much sought after race for the PYBAR Challenge.

The nearest the pin winner for the lucrative 6th this week was the wily Gordon Christie who rolled the fairway wood to 270cm but missed the birdie putt.

Next week is the final round of the BWR Accounting Summer Competition which sees Mark Kelly attempting to hold his lead from the ever present and in form Warren Blatch.

Members should note the Matchplay Championship nominations are on the inside noticeboard for the 2020 season. The Jack Burch nominations are also open.

On Sunday our pennants team took part in the 4th round, with the Division 1 side at Wentworth GC going down to the strong Duntryleague side 3-2. Only Joe Van Opynen and Robert Hey recording victories. Our Division 2 side, who lead their division had the bye.

The Division 3 and 4 sides travelled to Mudgee. The Division 3 side defeated Orange Ex-Services with Rod Kiley, Ron Hetherington and Peter Bristol recording wins. This side is currently equal leaders.

The Division 4 side also had a solid 3-2 over Orange Ex-Services. Ross Smith had another good win with Trevor Chatman in his first pennants outing winning and Captain Finne Latu having a win. They are a distant chance of making the semi-finals.

Parkes GC will host this week's round of pennants so any golfers that can lend a hand please leave you name at the Proshop or in the clubhouse.

Sunday we played a Stableford event. Winner "lefty" Mat Wright 41 points, runner up "Souths" Phil Smith 39 points, third Phil Wennerbom 37 points.

NTP Ladies Lyn "Chook" Davison fourth and 11th, Mens Reg "Manly" Davison fourth, sixth and 11th, "Lefty" Wright or was that "The Samoan Princess" Kap a bit of shenanigans going on there we think!

Lucky Card Draw "Big" Rickie Wells, Bunny went to "St George" Phil Smith and a fun day was had by all and "St George" Phil went home with the raffle, you don't have to play well to go home a winner with our club.

Our AGM is set down for March 9 at 6.30pm for 7pm, we will be having dinner before our meeting so bring your partner, no golf this week course is closed.

Our next event is stroke and putting comp for monthly award March 1 back to Services for presentation.

Last weekend we saw 15 shooters attend the Deep Lead shooting range. They shot at ordinary targets at both 25 and 50 meters for a maximum score of 500 points. this match was shot under hot humid conditions with very little wind and a lot of mirage.

Three shots for practice to make up their required shots before March 31. There are only six sessions left now. Out next shoot is at 10am Sunday, February 23 and standard targets will be used until March 31. We will then go back to the animal targets each second weekend.
