Lachlan Cricket Council u12 Competition
Sunday, February 2 saw Parkes host a series of double header 20/20 games involving Parkes, Wellington, Dubbo Blue and Dubbo White teams at Keast one and two.
Plenty of good cricket was played during the day that was eventually halted by a very heavy thunderstorm that soaked all in attendance.
Although disappointed that the cricket was not completed, the huge majority of all in attendance saw players, officials and supporters wearing wide grins as they rejoiced at the cooling effect of the heavy rain.
Results of games played -
AM Game one at Keast two -
Dubbo Blue 7/109 in 20 overs (C.Townsend 22, M. Knight 17, H. Marchant 19, D. George 15, Xavier McMullen 15 n.o, Kade Ticehurts 2/16 off 3 overs, Aiden Rayner 3/15 off 4 overs) defeated Parkes 4/97 in 20 overs (Boyd Hutchins 39, Ewan Moody 25, Tom Ball 10 n.o, C. Townsend 3/3 off 3 overs, A. Morgan 1/10 off 4 overs). Dubbo Blue won by 12 runs.
AM Game two Keast one -
Dubbo White 2/214 (off 20 overs) defeated Wellington 5/54.
PM Game one Keast two -
Dubbo White 7/154 off 20 overs (Austin Hunt 44, Andrew Ridge 32, Ollie Orth 22, Ashton Deebank 11, Thomas Ball 2/25 off 4 overs, Aiden Rayner 1/18 off 3 overs, Ewan Moody 1/16 off 2 overs) V Parkes. Match washed out - Parkes didn't bat so it was a drawn match.
Dubbo Whites Austin Hunt (44 with eight fours) demonstrated he is a very talented player as he led Dubbo White to a good total before the rain came.
PM Game two Keast one -
Dubbo White 5/70 versus Dubbo Blue 1/36, game was abandoned due to the rain.
Earlier in the day, young Parkes players Boyd Hutchins (39 with five fours) and Ewan Moody (25 with three fours) looked to be well on the way to securing victory for the young Parkes team over Dubbo Blue.
Boyd Hutchins proved that good things come in "small packages" as he displayed a very sound technique and plenty of good shots to top score for Parkes.
Boy's success has been a good reward for plenty of keen training.
Aiden Rayner should be very pleased with the four wickets he took for Parkes during the day.
Parkes Junior Cricket Association provided plenty of cold drinks and tasty sausage sandwiches prepared by Cameron and Nicole Rosser for lunch break between games.
Lachlan Cricket Council u14 Competition
The Parkes u14 representative team travelled to Condobolin on Sunday, February 2 to record a thrilling victory over a combined Condobolin/West Wyalong team.
The understrength in numbers Parkes team was disadvantaged with several players unavailable to play due to various reasons.
The scores were -
Condobolin/West Wyalong 117 (Blake Dillon 28, Harry Roscarel 31, L.Costello 13, Harry Jones 3/18 off 8 overs with 3 maidens, Ryan Dunford 2/12 off 8 overs) lost to Parkes 7/119 (Ryan Dunford 31, Harry Jones 25, Joseph Tanswell 15, Liam Moody 13, Harry Roscarel took 2 wickets). Parkes won on the second last ball of the game.
Obviously by checking the above scores it can be seen that Ryan Dunford and Harry Jones played major all-round roles for Parkes.
Joseph Tanswell and Liam Moody gave Parkes a solid start to their run chase.
"Pocket Rocket" Ollie Westcott gained a big nod of approval from Parkes Coach Phil Dunford for taking his first Inter-town representative wicket and then scoring a valuable two runs as the game drew top an exciting conclusion.
Many thanks to the Parkes parents and carers who assisted with transport to and from Condobolin.
