A man has now been charged following the death of a woman after debris hit a vehicle on the Newell Highway near Parkes.
Emergency services were called to the Newell Highway at Alectown, about 25km north of Parkes, just after 5pm when debris from a truck allegedly struck a Toyota Prado SUV travelling in the opposite direction.
A 38-year-old woman was seriously injured and despite attempts to revive her, she passed away at the scene.
A crime scene was established with officers from the Crash Investigation Unit investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 52-year-old man at Parkes Police Station about 3.30pm on Saturday.
He was charged with drive unsafely loaded vehicle causing death.
The man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Parkes Local Court on Monday, March 16.
Investigations are continuing.

Just after 5pm, emergency services were called to the highway at Alectown, about 25km north of Parkes, following reports debris from a truck had struck a Toyota Prado SUV travelling in the opposite direction.
Upon arrival, officers from Central West Police District located a 38-year-old seriously injured.
Despite attempts to revive her, she passed away at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota, a 42-year-old man, and three boys - aged four, six and nine - were taken to Parkes Hospital as a precaution and have since been released.
The truck driver, a 52-year-old man, was also taken to Parkes Hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established with officers from the Crash Investigation Unit investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
