Yvonne Gibson came to our attention on the platform at the Parkes Railway Station on Thursday afternoon when she was crying out "Water! Anybody want water? Cold Water two dollars!"
She wasn't selling the water - Parkes Rotary Club was - she was just helping them out as she waited in the 41-degree heat for the Blue Suede and Elvis Express trains to arrive.
In town for the 28th Parkes Elvis Festival, Yvonne has recently settled on the Gold Coast after being on the road for the last seven years.
"I've been travelling around Australia in my motor home with my little dog Lexie, she's my eight-year-old Maltese cross Yorkshire Terrier, she's great company."
After suffering not one, but two terrible losses, Yvonne hit the road.
"I lost my son in 2011 and my husband in 2012," she said.
"Our son died when he crashed his airplane due to a heart condition that we didn't know he had.
"Ten months later my husband died of a broken heart."
Four months after losing her husband Yvonne started travelling around Australia.
"I've done 175,000 kilometres in seven years," she said.
But last year Yvonne decided it was time to take a break from the road and bought herself a home in Queensland.
"I got the key on September 17, 2019 - what would have been our 53rd wedding anniversary," she said.
"I'm going to stay put until after VIVA Surfers Paradise and then get back on the road."
