REPORTS of sparks and power lines arcing resulted in two emergency call outs overnight for Parkes firefighters.

The first call was received at 16 minutes past midnight on Monday to wires arcing on Reid Street.
"Crews secured the area and remained on scene in case of fire until Essential energy arrived," Parkes Fire and Rescue NSW crews said in a statement.
Then, at 2.09am another emergency call was received.
"As we were leaving the first job, were called to another wires arcing on Flinders Street," firefighters said.
"This time the wire was between two poles across the road.
"Fire brigade and police set up a road closure until Essential Energy were able to attend to disconnect the damaged wire."
At the time of the call outs, Bureau of Meteorology data shows winds were calm in Parkes. There was no wind at midnight and winds at 13km/h at 2am.
